FAQ - Questions and Answers

Q: Why am I getting "Cannot Find SD error 13" in the display window?
A: This is most likely because the card you are using is not formatted FAT32. Try to use and SD card that is 32GB or smaller. Larger SD cards are usually fomatted exFAT and can cause this issue. Usually there aren't any restrictions with microSD sizes,  but very large SD tend to be exFAT. In rare cases, please make sure the SD card is inserted correctly. When the cart is placed in the 2600+ the SD card should be inserted showing the copper plates facing up.

Q: Can I use the UNOCART+ 2600 cartridge on an original Atari 2600?
A: Support for the original console is limited. 2K and 4K ROMs should function properly. Development is primarily focused on the 2600+ and 7800+ consoles.

Q: Why isn't there a menu on the TV like the other multi-carts for the 2600 ?
A: The other multicarts utilize a special ROM running on the Atari 2600 to display a menu and select games. This solution is not feasible with the 2600+ and 7800+.

Q: Can I emulate 7800 games?
A: No, only 2600 games can be emulated. 7800 ROMs will never work on the UNOCART+
The simple reason is because 7800 cartridges use a wider port with 8 extra pins. The UNOCART+ would not fit on the original 2600 with this wider connection, just as you cannot insert a 7800 cartridge into a 2600.

Q: Can the UNOCART+ be purchased with a ready-to-play microSD full of games?
A: No, you must source your own microSD card and ROMs. Any microSD card should suffice; there is no need for a large capacity one. 4GB / 16GB cards, formatted FAT32, are more than adequate. Downloading ROMs from the internet is your responsibility and you assume all risks.

Q: A ROM is emulated, but the 2600+ console does not recognize it or fails to launch it.
A: The Atari 2600+ and 7800+ cannot run all games, and the UNOCART+ may not support certain ROM formats. First, investigate and confirm that the game on the original cartridge functions on the 2600+. Also, ensure your UNOCART+ cartridge is using the latest firmware. If the game should work, use the contact form below to submit a request, specifying the game name, the firmware version of your console, and any details that may assist in debugging the issue.

Q: During the emulation, the OLED screen displays "Cartridge Type: X" with X being a number. What does it mean?
A: This number assists in identifying the type of ROM the game is utilizing. Please refer to the supported ROM table above.

Q: Is the firmware available somewhere. Can I download it and make a better version

A: The firmware is current not available. But it will be shared during 2026 and made free to download/edit. All we will ask is to not resell and share back with us what you did or what type of cartridge support you added.
